Divide, Survive and Conquer

Our life right now can be summed up in three words. Divide. Survive. And Conquer. Lily is now almost a month old (HOLY COW HOW??) ((Not how in the how in the world has she survived way, but in the how in the world has it gone so fast way)).

3 weeks :)
Jackson has adjusted pretty well to having a new little sister around. Well a new little being taking the show from him that is. He has had a few moments of "This is still MY show lil sis" but nothing to theatrical or terrible ;) He is so sweet with her. He loves to cuddle her, hold her, and kiss her.

BOY does he love to kiss her.
Which brings me to the title of this post. There has been something terrible in our house. Lurking around for about a week and a half, causing this house some distress. And yesterday, it almost took us down. BUT we divided, managed to survive and conquered it. What was it you ask? A BUG. Not a creepy crawly oh lets squish it bug, but a VIRAL or BACTERIAL cant see it but its taking over our bodies bug. Now I wont point fingers bc you can never tell where a bug truly came from, however I had a little stomach issue a few weeks back. Assumed it was post partum hormones, food choices and yada yada. Welp, last weekend (Saturday) Jackson was in the car with Taylor and Taylors brother John. They were on their way home from picking up dinner for us all and Jackson upchucked his pb&j, pears and Pirates Booty all on himself and his carseat. Yuck. Serious Yuck. THANK GOD they were just around the corner from the house when this happened. We pulled poor, traumatized 3 yr old from the spewage swamp that was once his carseat.  Jackson NEVER throws up. Like, EVER. So this kinda had us spooked. Especially with a defenseless, little, almost 3 week old in the house.
Divide, Survive and Conquer, take one. I cleaned him up (to which he repeatedly apologized for messing up his shirt, his car seat and throwing up. :( Then he said to me so sweetly as I was drying him off from his bath, 'Thanchoo momma for cweaning me up, I wuv you'. And hearts. Poor sweet boy) Taylor and his brother (god bless him) took on the car seat and eventually we tucked him into bed and thought we were good for the night, it must have been from the hot dog he ate at lunch. (Hot dogs can make a stomach up turn if not properly cooked my friends. Trust me on that.) He had no fever, no other symptoms. Just a sidenote, DO NOT google stomach bug without fever. If I didnt trust my mommy instinct so much I would have thought due to the internet that he had a twisted intestine. UGH. Cut to an hour later. Lily is crying bc we hadnt filled her tank up enough (Havent posted about this yet but this girl CAN EAT. AND must eat and be FULL before bed or no sleeping for her) and he throws up everywhere in his bed.
(Proof of happy baby after eating)
So Divide, Survive and Conquer take two. Taylor strips bedding, changes and consoles number 1, I take number 2 and top her off with food to stop her screaming and put her to bed for sleepy time. Whew. We did it. We.Feel.Like.Rockstars. Mostly bc we didnt bite each others heads off. We were so nice to each other. Weird. ;)
Another hour later. Screaming from number 1's room. (Feeling less like rockstars now)
Divide, Survive and Conquer take three. Taylor enters, and we have more throw up. This time it wasnt much and Jack managed to put almost all of it in the bag we so generously left for him. (small feet dont get to the toilet too fast...). I realize quite quickly we MUST at all costs keep the two little ones seperate (they had been already but now I knew for sure).  Jackson was crying now and very upset bc he just 'wanted to sleep with us' pwease. :( I kept saying you cant bc of Lily, etc etc. and he says 'But I pwomise Ill be quiet and wont wake her up, just pwease let me sleep with you'. BIG :( Poor babe. Taylor takes the rest of the night shift in bed with Jack and I stay in our room with Lily.
Next morning, he was fine. Starving, energetic and fine. Soooo we assume that it probably was just a little yuckiness from hot dog. RELIEF.

The week goes on. Everyone is doing well. Wednesday Taylor comes home complaining of upset stomach, nausea, etc. Great. Give him an immodium. He feels better, Friday he still has stomach issues. Saturday morning Lily throws up. Then again. And again. Awesome.
Divide Survive and Conquer revisited. Taylor is in process of mowing, so he and Jack work in yard then have a little fun in the sprinkler. I bathe and soothe number 2. She manages to keep down a couple ounces of formula. Still has wet diapers, no fever, active, happy, not upset about throwing up. But still call Dr, bc I want to make sure we are doing everything right. We are. Yay. Rockstars again. (kidding). So we all take a nap. Jackson wakes up from nap and has a gross green discharge coming from a slighly irritated pinkish eye. Um. Yeah. That would be pink eye. OH MYYYY GAWWWWW. Rockstar status REVOKED.
Divide, Survive and Conquer take, oh heck, I dont know which take it is anymore, lets just go with survival mode. LOL. We immediately start keeping it wiped clean with warm, wet towels. Not getting better, not really getting worse either. I call Dr. Again. Sigh. This time its about my other kid. They ask me the gammut of questions and call in a prescription for eye drops for us. Jackson NEVER gets sick but somehow since we brought Lily home he has managed a stomach bug and now pink eye. Which he has never had (nor have I for that matter). Lily is doing same. She keeps most down but is still vomitting a little bit. SO dr says to take her off formula and go straight to pedialyte. Dr. says give her 1-2 tsps every 5 minutes for 4 hrs. If she keeps it down double it and then after 8 hrs of no throw up switch back to small amounts frequently of formula. Well remember what I said a few paragraphs up about food, night time and Lily? Yeah. You can imagine 1-2tsps went over really well to a almost 4 week old who is hungry and ready for bed. HA. So I caved. After she was screaming for about 30 minutes even with the pedialyte coming every 5, I up'ed it to an ounce and then 30 minutes later another ounce. This seemed to satisfy her a bit more. She ended up keeping all the pedialyte down, so at 2am she was able to have formula. Kept 2 oz down, then kept another ounce and a half down 3 hrs later and then another 2 ounces down 3 hrs after that. Jack woke up a few times in the night with 'bugs in his eye'. Nothing a warm, wet washcloth and mommy love couldnt take care of. This morning we have MINIMAL eye boogage, and the eye is less red/pink than it was last night. YAY. Can I say how grateful I am that my child takes eyedrops (and meds too for that matter) like a champ. LOVE HIM.
We have survived! Everyone is on the mend and THANK GOODNESS Taylor and I are okay and healthy.
This is what its like to have two huh? Utter chaos. Craziness, Love, Laughter, and I stand by this...in order to survive, we must divide and conquer. I love my husband. There is no one else Id rather divide and conquer with. ;) Now lets all say a prayer that next weekend we stay healthy. These weekends havent been too relaxing around here. And we need one for sure.

***Update, Lily has thrown up 2 more times. So we have a dr apt this afternoon. She still is happy, and no fever and not dehydrated so hopefully its just from too much formula to soon. Sigh.
******Update Lily is all better, getting back on formula slowly, Jacks eye is almost completely healed. So I would say Jack is at 96% and Lily is at 85%. Oh and at the dr apt she is weighing in at 8 1/2 pounds. YEAH!! Told yah little stinker loves to eat :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY TWO LOVES!!!

Well today turned out to be a VERY surprising day. Even though my sweet Lily is due today, I thought (and secretly prayed) that she wouldnt come on this day. Its Jacksons birthday after all and I didnt want them to have to share a bday. But lo and behold God laughs at our plans and has his own way. His way was for my two children to share a birthday after all. SO without further ado....

Sunday Sillies

Here are some funnies from this last week:

~Dad to Jack: 'Hey can you go get me some toilet paper so I can blow my nose'
Jack to Dad: 'Sure, Im gonna blow my nose too dad, Ive got some crusty boogers in there I gotta get out.

~After a particularly rough night of no sleep for me and Taylor I DESPERATELY needed Jack to nap. He did NOT want to. At all.
I said 'Ok thats fine but you have to stay in there for awhile. If you decide not to nap, which is your call, just know that you will be going to bed early tonight instead.'
Cut to an hour or so later (where mom still had no nap-Jacks fault bc he talks soooo loud to himself) he comes in my room and says  'Mom, how bout I just go to bed early tonight ok?'
Done. 7 o'clock bedtime for you! Stinker.

~On a car ride with Grandma and I, he decided to inform us that he went on a date with 2 small, tiny, cute girls. Um, okayyyy. Not sure where you took them since you dont have any MONEY and did they know you still where pull-ups? That would have been a deal breaker for me. ;)

~While shopping in Target with Jackson and Taylor, I was waiting for them in the baby isles, and on a cut through to the baby section to meet up with me, they walked through the bra and underwear area. From what Taylor says, Jack grabs a bra, squeezes the cups and says 'This is for mommies boobies dad'. Nice.
Little does he know that his father was caught at about the same age squeezing a mannequins tatas in a dept store by his father. Thinking this must be genetic???? Taylor thought it was hilarious, I was mortified. Sigh.

~ We had a snack at Sonic the other afternoon and decided to give him a soft drink for the first time ever. We ordered him an ocean water. So he gets it and is all excited bc its called something awesome and its BLUE! He says ' What ocean did this come from mom?' I tried to explain to him that it wasnt actual "ocean water" but he was having none of it. He felt it must for sure be from the ocean. We waved a white flag on that argument.

~ In the car he dropped a toy and asked me to pick it up, before I could finish explaining to him that I couldnt bend over to get it bc of the belly he interrupts me and says ' I know I know I know, I forgot, I know'. LOL. Poor kid.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter and a Roaring good week!
Tomorrow is this little mans 3rd BIRTHDAY!!!!
And Lily should be here any day now....updates on that later :)

Just laboring away...

Well. No baby yet. Im 39 weeks. So not quite at the due date. Just a week away. A long week. I feel like I am in early labor. Every symptom I can check off my list except 2 (ones gross and one is the water breaking) BUT as everyone knows 'You never can predict these things' AGHHHH. Why? Dr. N says its bc thats the only way we are actually prepared for labor. We are so miserable leading up to it that we will literally take WHATEVER kind of pain it takes to just GET THIS BABY OUT! For the last 3 nights. Yes you read that right. 3. I have had MAJOR braxton hick contractions. The kind that make you think okayyy this is it. And they are so lovely as to come fairly consitently and get stronger as the night goes on. I have forced myself to get to sleep and then wake up off and on, and low and behold the sun comes up and the bh's fizz out. OMGEEEEE. Talk about frustrating. I am trying so hard to just relax and it will show itself eventually but that might be THE HARDEST THING TO DO EVER!!!

Just wish there was a magic stick you could pee on that would tell you 'Yes, you are in fact in labor' or 'Nope pee on me some other time'. But for now you can just call me Laboring Lindsey.

Ill keep on laboring away until I get the reward of rewards. At least I can count on that. This little girl in my belly will be the other most amazing gift God has granted me with. Im not good at waiting for good gifts. But I guess I dont have a choice in this one. So for now, I will play with the first most amazing gift God gave me 3 years ago. Well actually one week away from 3 years ago :)

Sunday Sillies

Ive decided to do a new thing to document how hysterical this older child of mine is. He is a week away from being 3 and says the absolute funniest things to us. Now of course I am COMPLETELY aware that most wont think this is AS funny as we do (Ahh the rose colored parent glasses), BUT I want to document them so when he is older and turns lame, responsible and grown up (boo) I can remember how cool he once was. :) Here goes nothing:

~A few weeks ago he was outside playing with dad and he started screaming (not the oh no Im dying scream but the oh no I want everyone to think Im dying but im really not so Im forcing it scream) and I was upstairs in the bedroom. He came racing up the stairs and I ask him so concerned "What is it, what happened, are you okay?" His response "A kito hawk, just bit me on my cheek" translation-a mosquito hawk just bit me on my cheek. I said "Oh dear, well I dont see a mark (bc we ALL know that it didnt really bite him...shhhh.) I think your gonna be ok. I wonder why he did that" Jackson says "Because, he saw my cheek and thought oh yum thats a juicy mango". Have no clue where that came from.

~After being outside playing awhile he came inside with me and said "Whew its hot out there, Im all sweaty" I said "Yeah, you played alot, and slid on that slide a bunch of times" He said "Yeah, I did, but Dixie cannot slide on the slide. (as he sighs and nods his head to the side) " I asked him why she couldnt and his response was "BECAUSE mom, her heiney is TOO  BIG." LOL. I like that that was the reason why, not that she cant climb up the rock wall to get to the top of the slide.

~He will walk around and sing these words 'Whatcha gonna do with all that junk in your trunk' Whoops, guess Ive said it to him to many times while changing his diaper or something. THANK GOODNESS he thinks we are talking about Elephants.

~He responds to questions with 'Not quite yet' and 'Maybe later' alot. For example; "Jack would you like some of ....." 'Not quite yet, thanks'. We sit on the potty for awhile and he says "Um, maybe later" with a head nod and tilt.

~Me to Jackson "You were such an awesome big boy today. You did so great at swim and you were so sweet at the grocery store and now your being so helpful and funny, I love you so much" Jack to me" Aww thanks mommy, that makes my heart SOOOO HAPPY."  Have I mentioned how much I love this kid?

~The other day he asked for a snack so I got one for him, when I brought it to him he said "Oh thank you momma, I appreciate you listening to me" (my mom and Taylor both said, Oh dear, he sounds just like you. lol)

~'Mom, what happened to that racoon?' 'What racoon hun?' 'The one that was in my pull up' 'Oh my, you had a racoon in your pull up??' 'Yeah' 'That doesnt sound very comfortable. I dont think Id ever want a racoon in my pants, they have scratchy claws and fleas, I bet that hurt' 'NO, mom it didnt hurt, he was just checking to see if I had a poopy but I didnt' 'Oh ok, a poop checking racoon, awesome' 'Yeah (sigh) awesome, I wonder where that guy went'.

All this morning he has been cracking us up. So here are things he has said this morning that made us giggle. And also makes us a little afraid.

~He got in trouble by me for getting all huffy about not having his favorite cereal in the house (sidenote, his 'favorite' cereal which he has eaten maybe 3 times bc Taylor asked me to buy some was Trix. I normally do not give him sugary stuff like that in the a.m. He is already wild enough) So I got on to him and he got all sassy and then pouty and sad when he was reprimanded. So into the bathroom to tell on me to Taylor. (hes a BIG tattler) As Taylor was talking to him Jackson started messing with some things he wasnt supposed to so Taylor said 'Dont mess with that Jack' Jackson said 'Say please' so Taylor chuckled and said "Ok PLEASE dont mess with that" Jacksons response "Ok, Please dont say that to me". HEHEHEHEHEHE. We are in sooo much trouble.

~He asked Taylor to carry him downstairs this morning saying "Your the only one who carries me anymore" In the most sad dramatic way. LOL. Poor kid so mistreated with a pregnant mother. HA

Come back next Sunday for more Sunday Sillies. And hopefully baby pics of Lily!! She BETTER be here by then :)

A special North Pole Visitor

We had a VERY special visitor from Santa Claus, we heard a knock on the door after dinner and we found a box, with an elf sitting on it and a note from THE Santa Claus himself!
We were a little suspicious at first.....
But then got a little curious...

Then, we were okay with the elf but forcing ourself to smile for the picture.
(This is when we were going through our squinty eye when we take pictures phase.)

Santa told us in his letter and also in the book that came with Mr. Elf that we needed to name our yearly visitor. The three of us sat down to discuss his name. Jackson suggested P.S.. ??? Where did you come up with that, we were thinking and we quickly tried to redirect him to a different name, but he kept saying, 'no P.S' and quite honestly getting a little angry about it. We finally figured out that the name he wanted was in fact standing for the post script that was at the bottom of Santas note. LOL. Of all the things to stick out on that letter, the P.S. was what he remembered, hahaha. So funny. Well, we thought, you know P.S. isnt the worst name out there, but you do have a sister coming along so why dont we try for something more Elf friendly and we gave him some options and we all settled with Charlie the Elf. Whew. Who knew picking a name would be so difficult!

The next morning we woke up to a surprise North Pole Breakfast! Thanks Charlie the Elf!!!

Whats all this at the table???

Hmmmm there is alot of stuff going on here...(he is so serious sometimes ;) )

'Oh wow, Charlie brought some goodies too and a note!!

A snowman countdown calendar!!

It was a VERY yummy breakfast of powdered snow donuts, Hot chocolate, fruit, bacon and pancakes the shape of a reindeer! It definitley got us in the mood and excited for the next month! We had a good talk about Christmas and Jesus and how Santa is really Jesus's helper on Christmas Eve. I love that this year he seems to really be getting the basics of Christmas and I am so looking forward to having this Holiday in our house this year, with just us. I feel so blessed and truly enjoy every minute of this precious life God has given me. Thank you Lord for your many blessings!

Its a.......

YAYYYYY!!!!!!! To say that we (ME) are excited would be an understatement. I honestly felt that the way I had been feeling pointed towards girl bc it has been like night and day compared to when I was pregnant with Jackson BUT you never want to get set on that. When Courtney (did i mention one of my bestest girl friends is my sonogram tech at my Dr's office??) was just smiling and then got teary I knew, and I said 'Its a girl, isnt it' and she said 'Yes, but lets just make sure 100% for sure', and then there it was, or rather, there nothing was and she confirmed it!!!
I just started crying and to be honest Taylor looked very very scared.
But I cant see his real emotion these days with that joke of a mustache on his face. Oh, did I not mention that yet? Yes the mustache is back just like last November, er 'Mo-vember'. His 'I grow my mustache out and raise money for prostate and other mens cancers bc my company encourages it and I look AWESOME with a mustache' month. Sigh. He actually was telling me that I truly did like it deep down and thought he looked so great with it, but I just didnt want to admit it. Ha. LOL. I said no honey, I truly, really, DONT like it. At all. For real. But I do love you ;) He STILL didnt believe me. He truly thinks he looks amazing, but I truly think he just loves getting a chance to really rock a look that goes along with his love of all thing Hall and Oates and Huey Lewis. As for what Jack thinks of it, I have no real clue, when Tay is there he says he likes it but when Tay isnt around he says it looks dirty, lol. But the real rub is that as my good friend Maranda put it ' This picture of yall finding out its a girl will always be haunted by the mustache'. Hahahahaha. Too true. Oh well, at least its for a good cause right?
So back to the GIRLY stuff!! We are super duper excited and now to getting the room planned and figured out. Im not exactly a pink room kinda gal, so I have an inspiration .......

but not sure if I can pull it all together.... Her sonogram went great, she looks awesome all things are developing perfectly and I am measuring perfect at 20 weeks :)

Oh and Jackson said all along he was having a sister not a brother so when we told him, he screamed or squealed actually and then ran a loop around our friend Laurens house. LOL. BEST reaction ever. Should have been recording it. On that note, stay good people, the Holidays are a comin!
